I have a pair pair of HW-101s and an SB102,an SB103,an SB301,a Maurader,a Mohawk,an Apache,a DX100,and DX60,and an SB220 and an SB1000 which is an Ameritron.
I never knew how the SB104 is so now I'll look for one..I do hate 20 meter CQ contests with a passion tho.The band is so crowded on the weekends with everyone being home and they clutter up the band with this bull shit.
I've been working a lot of 6 meter AM and SSB lately.

Have you ever run across a DenTron unit? That was Dennis Had's company prior to Cary Audio.
He's still enjoys getting on the radio...
Sure, you still see a few around.

I usually score big but not today. It's an 807 AM modulator and I got it for 20 dollars just for the iron..I think I'll fix it tho and use it with my DX60.
Earl, how can I tighten up the tuning on the SB301..It slips and doesn't grab and I'm not sure if that works by friction or what..A lot of my heathkits have that but they all work well.

I have only owned a SB-104 and an SB-200 and those are the only two I ever worked on. Neither had any dial string or gear drive. The 104's tuning knob directly drove the tuner and of course the amp just had the tuning cap which was also directly driven. Sorry. When I have old radios that slip I put WD-40 on a q-tip and lube any roller or other thing that could cause resistance.
