We changed out our French doors to our patio with Andersons- wood interior, clad exterior 3500 bucks. Very nice door. I could have settled for something less expensive, but once my wife saw the one we got, it was over.
Doesn't look like the dark NYC apartment I had imagined...
I would never live in a $2MM closet.
I am in NYC, there are 5 counties that comprise NYC, also a study was done and it said NYC is the less free as in freedom place to live in the entire USA. Consider that forewarning.
:)
Nice! I see you do let a little sunlight in once in a while.;-)
We've bitten the bullet and are having all 11 of our windows replaced. They are in production now, each one custom made. The old ones (1980's) were all leaking and lacked modern coatings making keeping the house warm in Flagstaff winters difficult and allowing too much high altitude UV sunlight in during the summer. I feel your pain. Anyway, total cost, just over 10 grand for the job. Ouch! All are triple pane with modern coatings. The house should be toasty next winter and cooler later this summer. Installation should be in a month or so. Lifetime warranty on windows and labor, so I'm happy with the decision.
Have a great weekend!
We changed out all of our windows about two years ago. It was around 24 grand for 26 total installed. We don't require triple pane, but got double pane with laminated glass for hurricanes. The glass is like windshield glass. Ours are also guaranteed for life.
I'm sure we save some on energy costs, but what I noticed most was that they reduced outside noise substantially. They also let less light through. This was noticeable as they changed one next to an old one. Once they were all in, the light difference was no longer noticeable.
I had the lower level Windows replaced all of them a decade ago, gas bill was about 1/3 for heating, electric bill cut more than half.

"E Burres Stigano?"
They say when you take a picture and look into the lens that is how you view things :)
what makes you say this :
" I will die in a few years I am 38 "
I got maybe another 40 years if I am lucky, and the years go so damn quick.
You could have purchased 30-40 new LP's with that money.
What WERE you thinking?
:)
I had to save money on heating costs, probably save a few dollars next winter, the window wouldn't fully close and the heating bill was getting higher and higher as the years went on.I got no problem with a "dive" as they say to live in, however the energy costs were killing me, hopefully the heating bill will go down next winter,
I also had my Ethernet line fall down on the side of my house, Internet is very important to me, my Ethernet from the fiber box was hanging near my door ready to be ripped off as I opened up my door to get out of the house to work, so I apologized to the guy and slipped him another $60 in $20s so he could put the Internet line back on the house rather than have it hanging there. So $780 for some work on the windows and helping me with my nonsense, he got a kid in college who is going to be a pharmacist, he said the bill for that is $50k, figure he spends all that on school so his son can make $59k a year after 10 years experience, sad state of affairs. I will die in a few years I am 38, money is just an energy system to me, you can take an electrical system and translate that into economics of a household output and see it clearly as a control mechanism. Very interesting to see economics as an electrical system and how it can be measured in terms of conclusions from price shocking ... It is all predictable, and money is the cause of stress for a lot of people. God bless them.

Pharmacists here make around $100K.
I need some smart drugs.
$800 is ridiculous. My highest bills are for AC in the peak of the summer, but has never exceeded $350. Heat is gas and even with a gas water heater, dryer, fire place and auxiliary generator, I don't get over $90.
You must have had a big crack in the window or you are getting ripped off for utilities as you say you are for other things. My take is that most people are better off living somewhere other that NY or CA. I think that people get duped by thinking that they are making big bucks when they live in areas with high costs of living. Trust me people can make six figures and live comfortably in "lesser" locales.
thanks for your thoughts, I have to get out of here, the filth and corruption of NY is eating my soul. it is a cesspool of death and destruction. The atmosphere is one of a dark depressing illness and living in NY gets to me which is why I come off as depressive a lot.
it is really a cancer on human rights, there are none here it is hell.
Ha! About a couple of years ago, our good buddy Lee M got a new kitchen window. Not that he 'wanted' to. Still, I think it looks better than the tree branch in his kitchen.
:)
Replaced a 1974 storm window that was long in the tooth. As far as trees, I am looking forward to have a selection of trees to smoke in my pipe, we will see if governor Cuomo can take the hit :)

Cuomo does NOT want your smoking tax money. He has said so on multiple occasions. Although, I can't find a reference on Google, so I might have dreamed it.
:)
I have no comment about the fascist state.
