Watch out with that stuff. I had a percocet after a minor surgery on my leg, all I wanted to do was listen to techno and dance :)
They prescribed some lower level painkiller after, man now I know why there are a lot of addicted opiate people out there, it really is a nice feeling. Do not over do it, the withdrawal can be more painful than a surgery.
Hope you get better soon, better to have that done sooner rather than later. I thought I had gotten what you had after lifting a toilet I had replaced onto my curb, did you get a mesh?
Follow Ups:
This surgeon is well regarded by his peers, and won't do keyhole surgery as it can encourage patients to take risks too soon..
Targin / Endone is powerful and addictive stuff. Yet I find that a good meditation - once going - can feel pretty much as nice. Noting that these effects are self generated and thus more satisfying. (there's a hint there)
The reason why the opiates are so addictive, is that their chemical structures match-in-to our nervous system's evolved input sockets.
I managed the transition to no pain-killers last time. I've become pretty good at weaning myself off different medications over the years.
But, I will need to get more of this stuff to do that transition.

f you start to crave a dose, then stop immediately. As a night shift medic in an ER and an ICU, we used to find stray tablets after a shift (the pharmacy pre-packaged pills, about a half dozen per vial), take them home and use to help us sleep. A heavy night of incoming would leave us too exhausted and wound up to sleep.
I noticed after awhile that I really looked forward to dosing myself. Finding the discipline to stay away from the stuff took some doing, so I became an alcoholic instead.
Just kidding about that. I was an alky long before.
Kidding again.
Back then I stopped before finishing up the second script written by my GP.It is a weirdly nice feeling, and I know the risk of addiction, but the pain is often disabling and I do need the help.
I will be fine.
I think anyone who has needed anti-depressants and anti-anxiolytics, and has weened himself off them, after each period of use like I have, should be okay.
Another reason for my being confident?
On Friday afternoon while I was waiting to go to surgery, there was a small fire, which reduced the accommodation space in the Extended stay Day Surgery Units and one EDSU had to close.
For me the consequences were several.
i) The anaesthesiology team had time to ask me what my pain had been like after the August procedure/s and seem to have put in a local block on my abdomen's RHS this time around. (I also had time to talk to my surgeon and 'get a chit' to go to 3Sqdn RAAF's centenary events this week. Weds 10th at the AWM, IF and only IF I go in a wheel-chair.)
ii) When I came to in initial recovery room at abut 6pm? I had almost no pain at the site and said so. But my need for analgesia was marked down to 2 Panadols every 4/6? hrs. No-one told me they had made that decision.
iii) I was put in a general surgery ward, away from the recovery teams. I was way too exhausted to argue for more pain relief - even once the block died - and the pain came roaring back. So I didn't sleep!!
iv) one grumpy noisy obstreperous patient next to me didn't help much either, and was wearing the limited night-shift nurses down, IMO.
v) New shift, Saturday 6?AM and the sister in charge, looked at me, asked, listened and left the rounds team and got me 15mgs of Endone, like THAT, which I took. ... Peace within half an hour.
vi) Being a Saturday I didn't get a visit from a Registrar until 11AM, but I was out of there ASAP, with my script for Targin.
vii) Our local pharmacist told me to see my GP RSNow as I would need more of it to help me roll it down without going cold turkey.
viii) Sunday arvo now and as my balls are swollen, and aiming to pee is becoming 'a bit of an issue' I will start ringing the practice around 8 AM.
LBNLeast it is quite touching to know the support and concern is here at IC.
