My favourites of that era were the Mopars -
This 1960 300C was parked over the road a few years back - shitty 2006 phone camera shot - but just awesome even when blurry! - Chrysler's designer Virgil Exner took Chrysler/Plymouth/De Soto into the rocket age around 1957.
Cheers,

...that's a 1958 Buick
I prefer the Pontiac Version.
My uncle bought one new that year. It was a two tone blue four door. He finally sold it in the early 1990's when he was 95. Cool old car.
Kootenay, you driven this car?
But, I was lusting about it for many years and checking it out every chance I get while it was on display at our local Oil and Gas Industry museum, which is a walk away from my office. Anyway, the museum is gone now after the building was renovated a few years ago to make way for more office towers. Renovation is part of downtown's life in Calgary over the years, which is attributed to oil and gas industry's boom. Heck!...you even have to be very careful not to stand on the bus stop for very long, otherwise you'll get renovated too.

when I stole my mom's 1957 Plymouth Fury and we ran off to Reno to get married. We had no idea we needed a license and had to be 18. So we got a room and the next day drove back to Los Altos, that was when the CHP stopped us as Mom had reported the car stolen....we were escorted back home, to the front door I may add.
That car was very fast for it's day, I recall the push button tranny and the acceleration was impressive.
We got married....to others....and all these years later are still friends. Mrs LWR even invited her to visit us in Shingletown and it was a great time.
