If you fart the dog will try to get closer to your butt for a deep sniff. Once I farted when the cat was on the couch and she heard it and went closer to investigate
only to dart away in high gear when she got a whiff.

Dogs have masters; cats have staff.
Dogs are TECHNICALLY smarter than cats.
Cats, IMO have more SENSE than dogs, being more critical to whom they give affection.
What did you have for dinner?
Too much is never enough
Cats have no concept of loyalty whatsoever and will show affection to anybody who they suspect of harbouring food.
Dogs, being social animals, have an overdeveloped sense of loyalty.
(Some) dogs will defend you with their life while cats will scarper and eat your corpse later.
Bottom line: Dogs are reliable companions, cats are fickle ornaments.
Not QUITE 100%, IMO.
My cat would follow me on walks with NO hope of any particular reward.
Renfield also had a sense of humor and learned when I was angry or wanted a particular response.
Problem comes in when people expect DOG behavior ( pack mentality +) from a cat, not programmed for such behavior.
Years ago, my cats would spend time pretending to hunt while lazing around in the back yard. They would be reluctant to come in. Even yelling at them in Spanish didn't help. I would go next door and BORROW the HUGE black lab named 'Magic'. Cats came right in and Magic had a little fun.
Too much is never enough
