Annie is 13 years and a constant companion when I am at home ...following me from room to room and always on my lap when listening to music, watching TV or surfing the Net.

Follow Ups:
First, I AM a cat lover. Some of the neighbor cats use my back yard to pretend to hunt. I try to be friendly.
But I gotta say that cats, just like OTHER pets have a lot of variety. And you only get OUT of it what you put INTO it. An ignored cat or one left to its own devices will not be the loving pet some here have reported. A gentled and hand reared cat will be friendly, generally. Give a cat its space and its own 'territory' in the house and your good.
And in all fairness, while cats ARE doubtless innovative and ingenious, they just aren't that SMART. A clever cat is just clever. The intelligence dividing line would appear to be related to being able to identify SELF and at least minimal use of tools. I've seen vids of very smart Crows or blackbirds.
And I know the crows around here are bright. They watch YOU watch THEM. And they don't like it.
Too much is never enough

I'm sure many of us will recognize those endearing behaviors that you mention - our cat (a cat of the day on the site this past February) is now 14 and similarly is getting into his senior citizen years. Anyway, thanks for posting that great picture! Did you take it? As others have said, cats are really among the creatures that do make life worthwhile.
Yes, I took the picture. My daughter insists I text her a picture of Annie daily. Needless to say, my phone is chock full of pictures of Annie.
Living on my own, I look forward to Annie greeting me each day when I return. She's rarely more than few feet away, unless she's sleeping.
Here she is helping me post on the Asylum ...
;-)
I grew up in a house that always had a cat, with friends who always had cats. I can't imagine being without one ...but do hope to one day have a dog. But for now, its Annie's house and I'm glad she shares it with me.
Thanks again.

with the fishing tackle & mono-filament? She is a lovely girl....
...I've cleaned many a reel.
Her favorite time of day is TV time ...which I quite honestly do more for her than me.
She sleeps in the oddest places ...

of places where Schnitzle curls up to sleep each (all) day. She migrates around, following the places where the sunlight gets in....At night she curls up against us and reminds us when it is time to wake up (feed her) with littles noises and chirps and purrs.
She is the best owner I have ever had.
Here is our Siberian, Gracie a wonderful lady.
Schnitzle is in charge of music on Tuesdays. This in our Calif home..
