Just got Radio Australia around 17.8Mhz. Very unusual this time of nite but very clear and easily copied.
AM Radio is picking up, too.
Can get reception every 10khz (nearly) across entire band. Midwest coming in STRONG.
Even a lot of the 3 call letter stations which should be 'clear channel'.
KOA Denver is one of the more famous, but I don't know any more about WLS Chicago. KFI in LosANgeles is good, too.
Too much is never enough
Follow Ups:
Radio Australia stream-lined their transmissions with recent seasonal schedule shift. 9.580 Mhz, 12.065 Mhz, & 12.085 Mhz from 0900-2100 G.M.T.; 15.240 Mhz, 15.415 Mhz, & 17.840 Mhz from 2100-0900 G.M.T. Usually reliable 9.580 Mhz had heavily distorted audio today.
I would expect the higher (highest?) frequency reported to be good in DAYtime hours. Getting a station up 'there' late at night was unusual.
Anybody have a grip on what part of the sunspot cycle we are in? It seems reception is much better than even just a few years ago.
