Own both, from undergrad days to post-grad. Alpina doo-dahs in the suspension. 9.3:1 compression and dual Weber side draught on the Ti. Fun car. Great midrange power. Suffered from inadequate drum brakes on the rear. Nice autocross/slalom car with proper suspension, wheel & tire upgrades.
Pretty reliable. Think I put almost 175K on the Ti.
Aside: My understanding, is Mike Brewer of Wheeler Dealers just bought an early model Honda S2000. Be interesting, if they do a fix-it episode.
Follow Ups:
An S-2000 is about a dozen years old. How could it need a 'fix it'? Mods? maybe, but most of 'em look like out of a cartoon.
I would have liked some FUNCTIONAL help with my '2000. Maybe vented REAR brakes. If the injectors will handle the extra volume, maybe a LOW PRESSURE supercharger. say 6psi max.
A lighter set of Forged Wheels in a 'plus' size? Replace bushings with Graphite Impregnated Poly?
Maybe some other goodies? OH! How about one of those HARD TOPS? If it made it quieter inside, maybe I could have even enjoyed the RADIO!
The Alpina was the Holy Grail of BMW. Whatever the last year for the 2002 was? ('75? '76?) equipped to that level. Great choice.
Too much is never enough
Last year of the 2002 was 1976. E21 engine. Massively detuned with a thermal reactor smog system exhaust.
Not sure if WD are going to do a show on restoration of an S2000. Maybe, if Mike bought a wreck or one with rust...
It was posted on his FB site. No indication whether the Honda will make it into a show.
I don't know if they actually made one that color or not? Any help or what YEAR, maybe?
There is a small but vocal minority who would LOVE to see another S-2000. Updated electronics and a convertible hardtop STANDARD.
I don't ever see this happening, though.

2007 models had some other color options, not available in other years. New Imola Orange was one.

When I bought mine, I went with White and a Tan interior. I had to dodge around BLACK interiors and no way would I drive a car with RED interior. Black interior in a drop-top makes little sense in a climate where you might actually USE it.
I liked the yakuza blue.
