so you like the Bel Canto REF500s? I see you still have it, I am listening to some Evoken right now from it, very nice.
Glad you escaped ok. I plan on getting the hell out of here soon.

It's still hooked up to the Bel Canto DAC2.5, which I use as both my preamp and DAC in that system. I run mostly ripped CDs in Apple Lossless with the Pure Music player on my Mac and have a few HiRez downloads as well as some iTunes ACC downloads. The REF500S is great in my opinion. It's ballsy when it should be and delicate when it should be. I think it's mostly transparent - at least as much as most, if not all, A/B ss amps.
My favorite amp ever (that I have owned) is the Conrad Johnson MF2250, which I also still have in another system. Apples and oranges though. The current version of that amp is much more expensive than the Bel Canto, less powerful and of course bigger and heavier.

I agree on the neutrality/transparancy.I am happy with it, I think it was a good investment for me.
I have it running from a Bel Canto Pre3, I tried the DAC3 preamp and wasn't impressed, I gather the newer DACs are better for being a preamp.
I am wondering when Bel Canto makes a DSD DAC? I can't afford the Bel Canto Black line at $50,000, here's hoping some technology trickles down :)

But probably wishful thinking.
