At least five of the nine who were killed were shot in the head.
That's some crazy good shooting by a bunch of beer drunk bikers who were running scared through a parking lot.
Just sayin'.

I don't see anything fishy. This was a fight between rival gangs, not frightened people being chased through a parking lot by a nutcase with a gun. Over 100 guns were found after the dust settled. How is it that only nine people were killed?
One report said that four of the dead were shot by police. It wouldn't be surprising if the number ends up higher after all the autopsies are in.
Handguns are - on average - not accurate. Very short sight-radius, held in the hand.
Held in a vice on a range, just fine if not worn out.
IME real accuracy with a hand gun in a real shooting fight is quite rare. Mere accuracy isn't the whole picture. I used to put a whole box of ammo through an issued to me Browning HP as often as possible, and became quite accurate. But I still don't know how accurate I would have been if/when it all went down.
On top of that few people find killing easy.
I was a small-arms instructor among other things. On a special army course on coaching for marksmanship at our Infantry Centre I met a number of police marksmen and was bothered by their gung-ho mindset.
When my then fiance asked me to sell off my hunting guns, it was a hard choice but I did it.

The REALLY best pistol shots go thru MOUNTAINS of ammo.
At 50 rds per month, I may know how it works and am fairly comfortable shooting it, but will NEVER be a marksman.
And don't forget that most in-home 'emergency' usage is at very close range, anyway.
Too much is never enough
IF I believed I needed a firearm for home protection we'd probably move somewhere else, like Australia! :-).OR buy a semi-auto a refurbished M1 carbine (in .30 Carbine) but with soft-lead hollow-point bullets. Much safer and more accurate in hands that probably wouldn't practice much. OR a .410 cut-down pump shotgun.
I'd teach the residents two-eyed snap shooting as the technique.
But, I don't have such a belief nor would it be legal here.

30 carbine, even out of a rifle length barrel is no great shakes. But is sufficient for your use. Actually, an American company, Ruger, made a revolver chambered for this back in the 70s. I think it made a better handgun round than rifle!
Give me a 380, perhaps, a Walther?
Some persons prefer a SHOTGUN for home duty. Very low penetration of walls, which means you don't put holes in neighbor's walls. Not much to aiming, either.
The 'fear factor' of the pump noise is supposed to be pretty high, as well.

they were shot by the police.
can't help but to think of the arguments from the pro-gun dopes after the virginia tech shooting suggesting that more guns is the way to go.
cops show up to an active shooter and cant sort out who's a good guy and who's bad.
the nra's dream scenario, for all of its stupidity, laid bare.
this law-abiding student was legally trying to protect him/herself against the bad guy trying to kill people. its just too bad the cops couldn't tell the difference between the two once they showed up.
or, alternatively, the cops just figured anyone wearing colors was a criminal and shot them down like a dog in the street.
h/t to quenten tarantino for that one.
he'd appreciate it, im sure.
and headshots are usually in the movies, I was speculating the headshots were the bikers doing each other at close range, with the chest kills from cops. But WhoTF knows at this point.

Police only shoot people in the face by accident out of sheer recklessness or when they miss their intended target area. Both of which happen too often, but not in a consistent pattern.
I don't see a conspiracy here even though I have been disgusted by recent police misconduct and am an opponent of the militarization of the police.

What's in it for the police, if the quote above proves to be an accurate? Follow the money. Large tax-payer budgets funding "special task forces" (i.e. high paying jobs, overtime), lots of military grade weapons, vehicles, etc.
The spin given to the media is that these people are part of organized crime. They may be organized , in the sense that they belong to motorcycle clubs. But if the large percentage of lack of prior arrests turns out to be accurate, then their only crime will in fact be that they are members of these motorcycle clubs.
I don't stand by the article linked below. It just happened to be the first hit when I Googled. It does offer an alternative view of the incident, which is why I linked it. I'll go on record saying I'm pro police, in general. But this "We've got a solution, now lets go create a problem" mentality concerns me. If members of a motorcycle club, audio club, or bowling league are criminals, arrest them for the crimes they're guilty of. But when the crime involves involves nothing more than membership, the Constitution is being trampled.

Whatever your age.
I've been riding motorcycles for forty one years. I've never been a patch holder (club member) but have known enough of them over the years to see how it works.
Fifty years ago, if a fight like Waco broke out, the cops would go in, bust heads, and arrest those who were fighting. Today they go in shooting, arrest everybody who survives, and the public is placated by the cops explaining that these are somehow all dangerous criminals, and they've made your town a safer place.

Where's the good guy when two motorcycle gangs are beating, stabbing and shooting each other, and then they start shooting at the cops who show up?
In such a situation I have zero problem with the police shooting anyone with a gun in his hand. Like ducks. In the head.
To save your thread I've included a cat picture
