Certainly not for everyone, but 'fun to drive' is high.
I remember seeing new ones in the showroom at our local Lincoln/Mercury dealer with the then outrageous price of eleven thousand dollars.

They were powered by Ford, which was reliable. I've always heard the Pantera was unreliable. What was its Achilles heel ?
I've also heard they were hot has hell inside and other than the thrill of being quick, not much fun to drive.
I want one anyway.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
back in the 70s a guy in our town owned one (he was a member of soul/funk group Ohio Players) and we'd see him riding around town. You didn't see too many Italian exotics in Ohio so it stood out pretty decently. He later got rid of it (for whatever reason) and bought a Excalibur .
As we all know, in the 70s (way before the oil crisis) fast cars were American muscle; you didn't really see too many Euro sports cars floatin' around (exception being Porsche).

But same can be said of some of the mid 80's Euro Dream Cars from Maz and Lambo. (except the Detroit part).
Despite having the Volt named after one of their fellow countrymen the Italians only got to grips with car electrics quite recently in this century.
When I think 'unrelieable' I think Jaguar of the same vintage as the Pantera.
Same problems, too, though perhaps in a different order!
Too much is never enough
I thought that thing was pretty darn cool! Sounded very nice to my ears also, that was part of the appeal.
