I visited it on a double-decker tour bus, got off and reconnected with the next bus due.My Dad was - briefly - a coast-gunner, here in Australia on Sydney's North Head, before he enlisted in the RAAF.
Brilliant photograph as well.

The bridge runs roughly north/south. The picture is taken from the San Fran side. I can see cement abutments but don't recognize the location.
the more I think it is a composite pic. I cannot imagine any spot that would look north with that view. Still, even if that is so, the photo makes one wish that there was such a spot.
in fact that whole shot looks like one of those idealized 1950's tourist post card morphs.
Just doesn't ring true.

you can see that the roadway curves to the east as the bridge ends, there is no vantage spot that I can see that gives that perspective. And if there were, there would be scads of other pix on line that have that same view, I searched and searched and could not find one.
it was shot from the hill visible in this pic, it had to have been a very long lens to grab it...and the trees do not look to be tall...
I'm provisionally voting PS job.
I scanned google earth from the South side and the ONLY place that lines up has NO trees.
The trees on the LEFT going north, just past the toll bridge DO NOT line up properly for the
shot in question.
Great look though.
Too much is never enough
Oh wait ... I was on the other side. My bad.
