Another cold one but at least it didn't rain. My wife and I host an open house every Mardi Gras morning and our friends come over to eat start drinking and put the finishing touches on their costumes before we follow the St. Anne parade into the French Quarter. A good time is had by all.
My bee costume.
Funny I don't look so sad in this one.

The wife is going to a conference next month in New Orleans and I am thinking of tagging along to check the area out and grab some gumbo and see what is shaking in New Orleans.

The highlight of the day was the Indians they work all year and spend a small fortune on their costumes, they do this to honor of the native Americans that helped and protected escaped slaves.

with the Krewes making their costumes and the tradition involved were probably the best and most interesting of that series.
Clarke Peters is always excellent but killed it as Albert "Big Chief" Lambreaux!

My wife and I were there last week for the start of the season and parades. Colder than we expected, but a ton of fun. Nothing but food and drink for a week and nary a vegetable in sight (except the okra in my gumbo).
Actually a week there is probably too much time (easy to kill yourself with fun).

Yep Mardi Gras is a marathon not a sprint you really have to pace yourself. You should come here again at some other time of the year, there is so much more to the city than Bourbon street and Carnival.
