I decided to give up coffee. I never drank it until I was 35. Within a year I'm making the strongest coffee anyone who has tasted it says they've had. I've always had one cup a day, say 10-12 oz plus half and half.
I am not giving up caffeine I switched to green and herbal teas. One of those teas is Shave Grass tea. Since Saturday AM I've had a cup in the morning and evening with a green tea bag and a shave grass bag.
My sore shoulder joints have felt better since the first night. I am surprised how much better. My range of motion has increased already as well.
I sure hope this continues. There have been some other changes in my routine the last 5 days. Besides the tea I also had smoked fish for several days from a Michigan friends gift basket. I also used a vibrating sander these last few days working on some new wood. The fish is almost gone and the sanding almost done. We'll see how things progress but I am very happy right now. Hopefully it is the tea and it makes more of an improvement. If it even stayed like this it's a win.

.... so my heart goes out to you. I truly do, "feel your pain". I have Grade IV and V chondromalacia throughout my critical articular surfaces, I am afraid. Bone-on-bone in many places.
Omega 3 fish oils are a superb way to combat inflammatory response, just make sure you don't make yourself bleeding-prone by over-doing it. Omega 3 oils can act as natural anti-coagulants/blood thinners, so always be careful when starting up a new dietary regime.
Vitamin C is also highly anti-inflammatory. Lemons are a wonderful source.
You may wish to check into the ph balance of your system to see if you need to alkalize your blood or gut (or both.) There are various methods of doing so, all available from easy searches on-line. Over-acidification will also cause inflammatory response body-wide, and damage cellular linings, etc.
I am free to assist you in any way I can, Awe, and would welcome private e-mail exchanges. But that is entirely up to you, of course.
Regardless, I hope this helps you out.
Cheers,
WS
Thanks for the detailed post. I wish you the best in your battle as well. It's funny to me that I can be very active such as splitting wood with an 8 pound maul and feel fine while doing so.
The tea seems to help so I'll stick with it and add Omega III. I'll add some C as well. I decided to switch to green tea because they always say they think SE Asian men have little prostate (cancer) problems likely because of drinking green tea. I've felt it's that or Fish Sauce and I like and use that too.
Thanks too for the email offer. I'll send you one this weekend.

Noted by a friend at work who dropped coffee. He was level during the mornings, not jittery, and found that he no longer deflated at 2 pm. He was more productive all the way to 5 pm.
Caffeine is a vaso-dilator, so if you find any new aches or pains, pop an aspirin tablet.
I think that is a good move. I drink about 32 ounces of coffee a day. My shoulder joints always are killing me they are always sore. Is there anywhere you read giving up coffee would help that specifically?
Well first I don't think there is a tie between my shoulder pain and drinking coffee. I just decided to stop and switching to the tea seems to have helped my shoulders.
As to quitting coffee or caffeine I previously had just done it cold turkey but I was only a one strong cup drinker. When I did quit aspirin always solved the withdrawl headache.
