Or just schedule a patsy at home?
LSU Bye
A&M Bye
Kentucky Bye
Alabama/Western Carolina
Auburn/Stanford, oops, Samford. Who's dat?
Georgia/Charleston Southern
Florida/E Kentucky
South Carolina/South Alabama
And then an unranked team with only 1 conference win completely dominates and dishes a shut out to #8 Ole Miss.
That now gives Alabama one signature win over #4 Miss St. And a win over #16 Auburn is Miss St.'s claim to fame.
Gotta go, the Auburn/Samford game is on ESPNU.

Samford is the Wake Forest of Alabama. Great Law School.

beaten, not just whipped, humiliated.
Why can't regmac concede what everyone else plainly sees? SEC is an overrated conference. It's super teams get beaten by mediocrities, in its conference, and those mediocrities are beaten by mediocrities OUTSIDE of the SEC.
Of course, at year's end, those overrated SEC teams will play patty cake teams like VA Tech or VA in bowl games, beat them, and start off next year as "highly rated."
It would be nice, too, if FL St had to beat a ranked team to get it's lofty ranking. Barely surviving mediocre teams hardly makes it a top 20 team, week in and week out.
Oregon, btw, crushed a Colorado team playing w/out its QB. Wasn't close, which is what you'd expect.
exception of Orgeone and 'bama, I think they could possibly take down anybuddy. I think they'd beat Floriduh St..
Just goes to show the incredible depth of the SEC West, that a last placed team can take down # 8 in the country, wow!!
It sure is looking like 'bama/Oregon in the finals, no?

At least ESPN is starting to point out the pitiful non-conference opponents that most SEC teams schedule with the exception of LSU. They had a segment this week on Game Day called "SEC Cupcakes".
