Nice shots. Around here we rarely see them. Mostly, they run along the golf course in the middle of the night, yapping and "laughing".
Re: "Kitty, kitty"... "Owned" cats which are running loose are fair fodder, but the homeless ducks and geese which are just trying to get a decent night's sleep are easier targets.
:)
Just heard a pretty good program on 'em on VPR a coupla weeks ago...

Here's everything you need to know about the Eastern Coyote.Once in a while you will see one that does look like a wolf in both appearance and size.I saw one 10 years or so in the winter and I was shocked at the size of it and did think it looked more like wolf than a coyote. A beautiful animal.
Been here 6 years now and I'm still amazed by the "Toy" Deer that live here.
Back in Ohio Bucks are as big as horses. Here, Does are just Great Danes.
I ask why and everyone says they don't have the foliage to feed on as up North. Huh?

It's obviously the same here in SC, "Toy" deer, as you so aptly named them. Mild (practically non-existent) winters compared to Western NY where I was from, so logic would tell me there should be more food available. There certainly are more deer here, but they're smaller. At any rate, one of those toy deer made a mess out of the front fender of my car! I know two local guys who have hit deer while riding their motorcycles. That's an experience I'm hoping to avoid.
Edited for spelling: Deer, not dear. That's what I get for posting before coffee.

That seems to be the likely cause in diminished size. Still a healthy herd around here but in Woodstock,NY ,where I visit friends often, there are so many deer that they can flock like sheep in fieldlike lawns and really do seem smaller. You have to pay particular attention driving around at night there.

I always considered them small at their 30-50 pound average. That one looks 30-40 pounds anyway.
