Snippet: Do you ever get tired of the SEC vs Pac-12 discussion about which football conference is better? Well we did, too. Is the SEC the best football conference? Or, is the Pac-12 the best?
We did some number crunching – because that’s what we do – and you might be surprised at what we found.
Methodology
We used Stassen’s opponent vs. opponent database for games through 2013. We threw out the old Big 8-Big 12 Missouri vs. Colorado games because the two schools used to be in the same conference. Mizzou leads the all-time series 41-31-3 – by far the most games played between a member of the SEC vs. a member of the Pac-12. Probably wouldn’t have skewed the numbers too much keeping it in, but we took it out anyway. We then totaled each of the head-to-head records and placed them in our wonderful, interactive table below.
Sorry Pac-12, our findings favor the SEC, big time.

You're cointing wins against teams that weren't in the conference at the time. What were they in, the WAC, with New Mexico and UTEP? It took them a while to develop quality programs.

Rouge when the earth was young, maybe 40 or so. For a big game the atmosphere is near overwhelming. One Southern Cal plaler, back when they had the cahoonies to play us, remarked, damn, they had an actual live tiger on the sidelines!
I've been to several Univ of Texas games, all big games, and there was no comparison to the atmosphere, not even close. Even when Texas, led by Earl Campbell, played Notre Dame and Joe Montana in the Cotton Bowl one frosty New Year's day with the National Championship literally on the line, the Longhorn crowd, who made up the majority of the fans, were relatively subdued. Of course it may have been the ice storm the night before and the 20 degr temp ( I was there, it was difficult to get excited ).

UCLA out-of-conference foes: VA and TX. Not powerhouses, but not typical SEC patty cake opponents, either.
Stanford? Notre Dame for its marquee o-of-c clash.
USC: Notre Dame; BC; Fresno St. Three legitimate teams.
Shoot, Florida State makes SEC teams look like woolies; it too scheduled the Nuns.
Again, there is no validation of SEC dominance w/out it playing tougher o-of-c schedules or facing top PAC teams in bowl games.
SEC scheduled its bowl match ups to eliminate the PAC, not the other way around. You keep ignoring that CENTRAL point.
SEC TEAMS PLAY WIMPY OUT OF CONFERENCE OPPONENTS.
SEC TEAMS PLAY WIMPY BOWL OPPONENTS.
SEC TEAMS GET HIGH RANKINGS FOR BEATING EACH OTHER'S INFLATED RANKINGS.
Most of the wins were against either the Arizona or Washington teams. That's like the Pac-12 only playing Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

Lifetime 15-3 actually, Utah and Colorado don't really count from years ago. And the wins are nearly all against low tier Washington, Oregon and Arizona teams. Not terribly impressive.
How about total National Championships in all sports? Y'all are about 250 behind the Pac-12. SC and UCLA's total is about what the entire SEC can claim.

We only care about major sports. Bear Bryant used to call all sports not football "minor sports". There was only one major sport.
As your conference is currently constituted, LSU, 22-4.
