Not mine, I'm allergic...
I mean, the paint isn't even applied correctly!

This joint could use some color.
mmmm...good
nice shot
105MM Macro lens-@1/640th of a second & F-9-ISO was 500
Taken at 4:45PM on April 27th, which is the kind of light...
now we're talkin'.... I'll take 2-3 fixed lenes over a zoom any day..as in stereo components the more elements you introduce, the lesser the quality.
But the trade-off of course being the cost factor.
the 105 is very sharp, I notice a slight fall off in sharpness with the 18-200 MM when I use it at 105MM. However it is not enough to matter to me. The 105MM excels at macro work, which is just what I bought it for.
Wow! You have not only floored me with the loveliness of the Rose but also knocked me out with the gentleness of the petals.
Thanks very much.
Bill
hope you feel better & thanks as well....

Thanks.Everyone sees the world and has different opinions about it all.
So it is way more than nice that you have this quite striking regard for living things.
The daily reminders of how marvellous it is to be here are very welcome.

very kind words, I am happy to share this stuff. Here is another of the series I spoke to Winston about down below...
and then some. I love the many photos of roses and flowers you have on your flickr page - the one you linked
that made some people's sphincter even more tight and uncomfortable than they normally are?
Anyone that viewed your page for more than a 20 seconds and focused only on the ____ pics rather than the beautiful, OTHER
plant pics (amongst others) must have individual names for their hemorrhoids.
Sad that the glass must always be half empty for them.
That is just a beautiful, beautiful shot! Thanks for sharing!

how very kind of you. I have 2000+ photos up at Flickr and 8000 on my HD here. I find flowers and cactus and plants in general to provide a large challenge. They change appearance so drastically with changes in light, angle and lenses used.
Anyone who is curious can go there (Flickr) and type in lrog to get to my work. That is LROG w/o the caps.
The rose above is on my desktop for a while now. I love seeing it each AM.....

I like how you put it...thank you.

which flower I like to take pix of, I have done way more rose pix but I really like dahlias too. I just learned that the North Coast of Calif and up into Oregon has a lot of dahlia farms. They are waning now but come August they are beginning to fully flower. I plan a several days trip up that way then and on into Brookings where I can get pix of coastal plants and flowers and the coast itself.
My wife took that rose pic to a woman who does extraordinary embroidery and is having it embroidered onto a levi jacket.
3 years ago I took 2 rose plants from the first day of a leaf after winter and took AM & PM pix of both from all angles, this went on until they bloomed. Over 250 pix in the series. Many are abstract colors and patterns that are out of focus on purpose. They are among my favorite pix, maybe not so much for others though. Here is an example
...... is wonderful to behold.
Do a series. I think folks would appreciate it. Your call, of course.
But it could be fun.

might as well have a Bud (rose that is) of the Day along with the CotD.
.... as will many, many other members, I am sure. :-)
started this AM up higher on the board. As I said they are not all stunning but I think they are interesting because of their shapes and colors and tiny details that one hardly ever pays attention to in the garden...
I also added the dates & times so one can get an idea of the available light and the cycle of the blooming timetable....
.
It has a bit of a posterized look, making it appear somewhat 3D. Intentional?
Not a criticism. Nice image.
very intentional. It really leaps at you from a metal print....
The metal print is the best way to display an image. They stop people in their tracks. A close 2nd is a large rear lit transparency, these have a lot of "pop" too. As long as I am at it, a good properly adjusted and high rez computer monitor is probably 3rd best. Paper prints, unless they are sepia or B & W, are 4th.
Metal is way too expensive but one can sell them for a much higher price (profit) and you are assured that the client/buyer will see that they are displayed properly and lit correctly.
And that is nice to know.
