I kept the house to maintain continuity in the kids lives. I didn't want them to have to decide who to visit when they came back to town ...I wanted them to be able to come home. They have both expressed their thanks for my doing that.
At 2800 SF, the house is way too big for just me, so once my son graduates, finds work and moves out, then I'll have to consider whether I stay or not. It'll also depend on the stability of my work situation. Ideally, I'd stay forever ...but "ideal" rarely presents itself as an option.

Do you know why divorce is so expensive? It's worth it.
Based on observations about how people evolve, the odds are good that you may find yourself open again to a relationship. If and when, it will be great.
But it's great now! Enjoy the moment and your ability to enable personal change. It's very empowering. (PS- women find that attractive, so beware.)
...and I believe it.
But, I'm going to enjoy being single for a while first.
I've been married twice. I met my first wife when I was 18. I met my second wife while splitting from my first wife. Its been 37 years since I've been able to fart in the house and not have to say excuse me. I'm in no hurry to have to mind my manners again.
Odds are, you are right though.
