"Apparently you have no daughters."
What if young women were to exercise some common sense by not getting falling down drunk with young men they hardly know? And what if after a few drinks said women were to go back to their dorm and sleep in their own bed? Personal responsibility anyone?
Getting blind drink and thereby rendering oneself defenseless with a young man is both stupid and dangerous. Where is that fierce feminist independence we used to hear so much about? Aren’t today’s young **women** capable of exercising a bit of prudent foresight so as to avoid such vulnerable circumstances? Or are they merely the dumb pieces of fluff so easily manipulated as male chauvinists would have us believe?

Tawana Brawley? That one cost Reverend Al a few bucks, didn't it? This silly law will only guarantee more such false allegations.

of denial?
"Snippet: Any honest veteran sex assault investigator will tell you that rape is one of the most falsely reported crimes that there is. A command officer in the Denver Police sex assaults unit recently told me he placed the false rape numbers at approximately 45 percent. Objective studies have confirmed this. See Purdue Professor Kanin’s nine-year study published in 1994 concluding that over 40 percent of rape allegations were demonstrably false."
...so you can name 2, and the Duke players sexually abused the women but didn't rape them.
If one in five women have been sexually abused, how many men who were the perpetrators have gone free.
Millions.
So how do you propose to teach men that no consent is rape?
"and the Duke players sexually abused the women but didn't rape them."
Where did you get that?
Snippet: "The district attorney withdrew from the case, resigned and was disbarred.
"The North Carolina attorney general took over the case, and after a 12-week examination he dropped all charges against the defendants. Evans, who was indicted the day after he graduated from Duke, said the case Mangum brought against him and the other defendants had taken them "to hell and back."
"No other witness confirms her story," Atty. Gen. Roy Cooper said at a crowded news conference. "Other evidence contradicts her story. She contradicts herself."
...when is rape the victim's fault?
Never.
Poor judgement or alcohol are no excuse.
"when is rape the victim's fault?"
That would depend on your definition of rape.
Snippet: "Under the bill, someone who is drunk, drugged, unconscious or asleep cannot grant consent."
We would agree on three of the four. But who determines (the next day or the following month)) if the young lady was indeed drunk? Moreover, does "drunk" in this case mean that she was merely tipsy, a tiny bit over the legal limit? If so, then she can claim "rape" the next morning even if she initiated the sexual contact and enthusiastically participated to its end.
That scenario is absurd and in no way constitutes rape. Perhaps I'm missing something, but according to the quote above, under this silly law our hypothetical young lady can ruin a young man’s life under the scenario I’ve just described. Once again liberals have overreached. This puts young men on the wrong end of a “Heads I win tails you lose” environment when it comes to the opposite sex.
And how long does the young woman have to come forward and make her allegation? Months? Years? One can easily imagine a situation in which the sex on the evening in question was consensual and mutually blissful….until the young man dumps her for another girl. At which point the “rape” allegation is made because the girl is bitter and an eyewitness saw them sharing a bottle of cheap Chianti. Yet another poorly conceived law fraught with potential problems.
...better keep it in your pants :-)
