... If law enforcement wish to see my correspondence on my phone they are welcome to it.
I have never viewed or thought of my phone as a device to have any sensitive information.
I know, I need to get with the program and live in perpetual fear the government is going to arrest me and lock me up for life. (some on this site would be pleased)
Of course, celebrities who take nude photos of themselves and store them in the cloud for convenient gratification are victims of…. ?

that's the point, if you lose your phone would you want anyone to get into the files, take your email, switch around your bank accounts and etc...
it isn't necessarily about fear of law enforcement. any unencrypted phone in the wrong hands and your finances are wiped out.
unless you still barter, what is it, a dozen eggs for 1 days electricity?
Life can be stranger than you might expect. Several weeks ago, I finished my daily shopping at the very large grocery store nearby. After loading the car, I took the cart over to the "cart corral" and found a very nice Samsung smartphone lying on the pavement. I debated whether or not to go back inside and turn it over to someone. I decided to only give it to the store manager, whom I've known for years, rather than any random employee. Realizing I have ice cream in the car, and it's 100 degree outside, I decided to take it home and call the store to let him know I found a phone in their lot. So I did. I ask for "Bob" (the store director). He comes on, and I tell him the story. He's says - are you ready for this? - "That's my phone". Seriously, what are the odds?!
:)
... If I lose my phone what is actually on it which is going to cause me grief?
It will take me only moments to reroute my email.
I store no passwords on my phone so I am not terribly sure how my finances will be wiped out. Even if I did have passwords on my phone all my accounts have multi-level security.
On that note, how many phones have been lost or stolen and how many people have had their finances wiped out from losing their phone? Got any numbers?
