Yeah he's hitting .250-something and can't run like he used to...but tonight in his first at-bat he gets an RBI double and scored one batter later. Say what you want but the man comes through when the spotlight is brightest.
Follow Ups:
I finished watching the Nat's win, the Redskins game was a joke so I tuned in to the O's game. I saw the top of the 9th where the O's tied and immediately thought Jeter might do it.
As someone that always hated the Yankees since the late 60's and found no problem hating them more with Steinbrenner I must say by about 2001 or 2002 I finally gave in and respected them because of Jeter, Rivera and Joe Torre.
I still don't want them to win but enjoyed last night.

A walk-off hit in the 9th. Class.
Neil
The plan was for him to take the field in the top of the 9th by himself, then allow for the extended ovation. Then Baltimore tied it up in the 8th, so the moment was denied. The no-script beauty of sports couldn't have been better illustrated then what transpired last night. The number of things that had to have happened in order for that scenario to arise, then Jeter still had to come through.....just chilling.
