learn that longer roasting/higher temps is the reason some beans appear wet. These also will have a stronger flavor, though the caffeine and acidity should be lower because of evaporation from the roasting.
Like w/audio, there doesn't seem to be any "best" or shortcuts to be taken. The options are less than in hi-fi, but still can be daunting:
--wet or dry beans;
--high or lower heat roasting;
--S. American, C. American, Jamaican, Hawaiian, African, or other coffee sources;
--drip, French press, pour-over, espresso (steam).
I'm probably forgetting some variables, but trying all of them should keep any coffee drinker busy for some time. Like audio, it helps to be a bit crazy, hence the fitting "asylum" forum for discussion (I hope some readers of this have more of a sense of humor than those that found a similarly themed audio listing of options so "inappropriate" or offensive… Jeesh!).
Follow Ups:
Long/hotter roasts can bring out the oils in the bean. The longer the roast, the stronger the *roast* flavor,less flavor from the bean's origin, at least with really dark roasts.
I prefer a French press, but if you get rid of the paper filter and replace it with a reusable one (metal), you can get *very* close to a fp.
JackEdit: I meant get rid of the paper filter for drip coffee.

Hi Jack!It was a Father's Day present from both the boys a good few years ago. We'd replaced the filter assembly once, and the mesh filter quite a few times, over the years. But then I broke the glass jug.
Replacing the jug was a good bit more expensive than a full replacement - of the same model, so we bought a new one and dropped off the original - in the new one's box - for recycling. Some companies don't change models every year. See below.Don't see the need for a domestic Cappuccino machine.
And, we've cut down on coffee anyway! ;-)
