...upgraded to 6.1 - the damages and injuries seem pretty light.Power out for 24,000, gas leaks and a couple of fires, water lines broken, some streets have big cracks running through them, a few house condemned but only 3 people seriously hurt. Brick facades of some buildings downtown came down. Lots of things knocked off shelves in stores.
Mobile home caught on fire and damaged a few nearby because of lack of water pressure. Lots of other mobile homes knocked off their supports.
I live about an hour away and our bed shaking woke me up about 3:30am. Went right back to sleep.
The 1989 earthquake near Santa Cruz during the World Series was 6.9 and almost 10 times more powerful - did much more damage all through the Bay area over 100 miles away.

Didn't feel a thing in Monterey, 120 miles south of you. And I was awake in bed trying to solve all the problems of the world about that time.
See ya. Dave
...that would make the earth move?
Nope...I'm not to blame. ;-)
Why is it always (with me, anyway) some stupid hour of the night when my mind decides to wake up and ponder issues?
See ya. Dave
