Am I correct in thinking Ebay has gone so 'buyer friendly' that basically someone can buy something, keep it a few days or weeks and then say 'I don't want this', send it back and Ebay(paypal) just gives them back their money?
Follow Ups:
I just went through this last week. I sold a Tube preamp to a guy. He had it two weeks and sent me a email and said the item was not as described. He said one tube was broken in the socket and couldn't get it out. Problem is, I put the tubes in bubble wrap and a second box inside the original factory carton. After a few heated emails he would not listen. I told him I was going to let Ebay handle the matter. I called Ebay and told them what was going on. They looked through my description and our emails back and forth and settled it in my favor. It helps to have over six hundred transactions on Ebay with 100% feedback.
I've had eBay/PayPal help me out twice.
Once I sold an old fishing reel to a guy in the UK. When he got it he refused to pay the duty and was going to have it returned to me. I called PayPal to see if they had any suggestions. It was a sizable sale and the duty was small. Much to my surprise, they paid the duty.
eBay is like the wild, wild west. I know a guy who sold a watch and had it returned with a different movement in it. Thankfully he had the foresight to take a picture of the movement first before sending it.
Last story ...I sold an old fishing reel to a guy who claimed the screws were not as described and he wanted to return it. I pointed him and eBay in the direction of my pictures, which clearly showed the screws were perfect and not at all buggered, as he claimed. He provided pictures of the reel showing screwed-up screws and claimed I had changed them prior to sending the reel.
That's when having 600+ positive feedback's as a seller comes in handy. eBay believed me and actually banned the buyer!
It's crazy out there.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
Buyer Protection
If an eligible item that you’ve purchased online, eBay or otherwise, doesn’t arrive or doesn’t match the seller’s description, we will look into it. If it's discovered that something is wrong, our Purchase Protection will reimburse you for the full purchase price of the item plus shipping costs.
For more information, see user agreement
Examples
You bought a book but got a DVD, you bought a new item but got something that was used, you purchased 3 items but only got 2, the item was damaged during shipping, the item is missing major parts (that the seller didn’t disclose), or you purchased an authentic brand but got a knockoff instead. Tell us.
Guidelines
If the seller has accurately described an item, but you’re just not happy with it, if you fail to open the dispute within 45 days of purchase, or if your account is not in good standing, you are mostly likely not covered.
Items Not Covered
Intangible items like digital goods or services, real estate, motorized vehicles (of any kind), custom made items, travel tickets, industrial machinery (for manufacturing), prepaid cards, or items that violate our policies or eBay’s policies, anything you buy in person, or money transfers to friends or family. You must open any dispute within 45 days or you will not be covered.
Account Protection
You’re not liable for unauthorized purchases made from your account if you report an eligible incident within 60 days.
Refunds
If an order doesn’t arrive or match the description, we’ll reimburse the full cost of eligible purchases and paid shipping costs.

I will expound on Dave's answer with which I pretty much agree. I buy a good bit and sell very little. Seller fees are really getting too high (10% +). If you aren't careful with how you list your shipping they'll take a big part of that too even if you ship for actual cost.
Now that said one can sell many things there for far more than anywhere else on the net and more than cover those higher costs. High end audio isn't one of them in my opinion. I sold a Heathkit transceiver for hundreds more than I could have elsewhere.

Yeah, pretty much.
