Ditch the dish!
We have friends that spend $240 a month on such (and you better believe that includes "premium" channels).
We have "digital" TV and see all the best series/movies/etc. when they hit disc.
We are patient and as happy as those that spend the $200+per month.
We'll probably start streaming soon, be even more happy.
Of course sports is less than interesting for us, so that does
factor into cable, but the whole cable mentality is screwed, a
total monopoly (as TE states) and the FCC/ our Government
is as guilty as the mega corps for setting up this sad situation.
And, really? It's only going to get worse, just ask Comcast who have the
audacity, power, wealth and determination that small countries can only
dream of.

I would be quite happy with over the air TV, especially today with digital and all its subchannels. Never gonna happen as both distance from (100 miles) the station and geography (at the bottom of a very narrow valley) won't allow it.
There is no cable here either. I'm fine w/o TV it sucks so bad these days.
ET
you're better off (except the sports thing we ignore).
You can get the discs or stream the best/better programing.
Mostly it's the same old brainless, endless, opiate shit 24/7 on 100+ channels.
Seems like such a waste.

You can stream most of what's out there eventually, or you can rent/buy discs if that is your preference.
I cut the cable years ago. I have a decent antenna in my attic that lets me get local channels for the news and such. Even with the other options, there is very little I want to see.
