They had an interview with an Italian Mafia Scholar (Oxymoron ??) who said that, while many parts of the movie were very inaccurate, the Mafia themselves liked the way it portrayed them and some men who were made started imitating the (inaccurate) things that were portrayed in the movie.
So, for instance, some of them began sending the head of a horse to an intended victim......LOL

I've never seen any of the Godfather movies. I guess I'm not into mafia movies. Which seems strange to me because I liked to watch "The Untouchables" tv program when I was a kid. Go figure.
...by many to be the finest, or at least one of the finest, modern films ever made.
Forget the mafia and just see it.
One of my best friends has always thought I was nuts having never seen it. I'll keep an eye out for it on Turner Classic Movies, DVR it and watch it at my leisure. My older son, who's 35 years old, also thinks I oughta see it.
IF you are going to see One, then see Two (you can safely skip Three though there are some fine scenes) and DON'T
do yourself the disservice of watching them abridged in any manner.
TCM might show them uncut, otherwise get the DVDs.
They are amazingly great films in spite of the subject matter!

And yeah, it's because they're mafia movies. Just don't have the interest.
I even borrowed the dvd from my Son and had it for months, long enough for him to ask for it back so he could watch it again.
