So I got my pair of RH-40 sounding nice in a single ended amp, but have test boarded an SRPP/totem pole 6P14P output AC coupled to a TM3k Electra-Print and really like the sound. I will be changing to a 6V6GT output for the "keeper" version. The 6P14P output was about 800 ohms using a 1Khz signal. I guess the 6V6 would be about the same. I would like to know what, if any, improvement I should expect by going to the EXO-36 or RH-PF, and which or any other might be better for this configuration.
Hi KJM:
I found your query difficult to answer or make any recommendations--- partly becuause I cannot "see" what your circuit is...
and partly because it almost sounds like you were comparing RH-40 is one circuit to a different output in a different circuit...
You say... if I am reading your post correctly... that you like RH-40 in your SE amp. On first blush I am happy with that result :=)
So whether you like a different output in a different (or was it the same) circuit--- I'm ok with that as well.
I think the best way to assist or advise you would be if you showed us a schematic for what amp you would like to build.

The RH-40 sounds great, really clean sound, but the 5K impedance was apparently high for all the amps I was trying and it took a while before I had a design that was compatible. Only been doing this for 2 years.
I was wondering if a SE txr is designed differently for freq balance versus a parafeed txr. Was also wondering if both being equal in pwr, freq resp, that the parafeed would still be a better txr for a parafeed design. Was also wondering if both being equal in price, it the parafeed would sound better since it uses the iron more efficiently or can use better iron.
I finally got my amp sounding very good w/the SE txr, so I think the answer to my first question is no. (More capacitance in the power supply got rid of freq response irregularities and most of the grundge. Got rid of the last grundge with tube shields on the drivers.) The output is totem pole, presently 6P14P, AC coupled to the txr, but I plan on implementing 6V6 in the fall, unless we have a rainy summer. Amping is more of a winter activity for me. Since the output is AC coupled, it just seems logical that I should be using a parafeed output txr.
