So, I have this nice hefty, enclosed surplus military 450-0-450 (only plate windings,490v unloaded, 109 Ohm full secondary)PT . It is rated 160mA RMS.Since it's military probably undrated. I'd like to use it in choke input supply with 120-140mA current draw in stereo 300B .Remind me again why should I look for 250-400mA unit??

Have a look at this. It might be useful to you.

Usually the current rating is the RMS current. With a capacitive input supply the RMS current can be many times the output current. 3:1 is common.
With a good choke input supply, the RMS current and DC output current are essentially the same.
Play safe and play longer! Don't be an "OUCH!" casualty.
Unplug it, discharge it and measure it (twice) before you touch it.. . .Oh!. . .Remember: Modifying things voids their warranty.
Thanks
I will need to put before a choke around 1uF to bring up voltage a little. So it won't be "pure choke" but close enough.

Make sure you use Ultra Fast Diodes if you aren't using a tube rectifier.

I'll use damper diodes.
Thanks a bunch!, L
