...and finally in units that I can understand!
Hi Mike:
Our "revised" tongue-in-cheek technical specs for the grid chokes was in response to several posts over on Tubediy here on the audio asylum.
And it was fun to do--- and instructive as well--- to make a point about
"specsmanship"---
So over the next few days--- we will be restoring our "specs" and published operating data to the moreso conventional parameters that you might expect to see.
However, I would encourage folks to read a really excellent response that an individual named SLM posted in the thread over on tubediy.
http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/tubediy/messages/14/143065.html
and perhaps my response to SLM's post at
http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/tubediy/messages/14/143066.html
But, in fairness, before some newbee gets blown away by our "tongue-in-cheek" grid choke specs---- perhaps we ought to default
back to the more commonly accepted data that they might bee expecting to see.

...and finally in units that I can understand!Glad you like it, Mike!
And since you were last there, Mikey finally emerged from the basement after rummaging through the archives for an hour or so and came up with the original Woo Factor data! Might have to do a refresh.
Enjoy!

The values look about right, but I believe the unit of measure is spelled Wu. I suppose in this case it might be more specifically termed MQ-Wu.
Wu hoo!
Hi Dan:Steve and I debated this elusive unit of measure's true namesake. I, too, thought it was the WU factor--- with all credit (for first use I had seen) going to Herbie the Love Bug (of Sound Practices fame).
Steve insisted that the important criteria is "does it make you go woo (pause to catch breathe) woo, woo". Does it make you say "Woo--- that was cool." I thought this a bit more accessible as a qualitative indice than the moreso artsy-fartsy indici captured by the WU factor.
Upon further reflection, I sense that we need to capture both the visceral woo and the aesthetic wu dimensions in a new complex amalgam aptly named the Woo Wu Factor. Or we could call it the WWF and hope that the wrestlers don't take any special offense to our coining a term similar to their namesake.
The Woo Wu Factor can be shown with the appropiate X and Y co-ordinates graphically--- and then by drawing special Wu Woo loadlines one could further optimize a particular design for that special equilibrium point where the wu and woo naturally converge.
And that is how the Woo Wu Factor came to bee.

Mike, I'd put your email address in a .gif format to make it a little harder for those annoying people who send very annoying emails about annoying non-audio products.
Play safe and play longer! Don't be an "OUCH!" casualty.
Unplug it, discharge it and measure it (twice) before you touch it.. . .Oh!. . .Remember: Modifying things voids their warranty.
