Hi Chris:Love your moniker/namesake.
re: TFA-2004's... I don't have any of these guys in M4 in stock. Your wait shouldn't be so long. since I have a head's up I will try to get them stacked this week sometime. Though that is just the first of many steps in completing your transformers.
re: peerless preamp power tranneys... yes... we can build to order the R-080 and R-160.
re: choke. Please tell me the L desired\needed, the dc current requirement of the choke and if it is to be used as the first choke in your power supply or a later choke in the filter section.
in almost all of the discussion of chokes recently.... I've not seen hardly any (if any at all) of the fact that your choke (if the first L in a choke input filter section) must also be capable of handling the AC voltage ripple...
if you can fill me in on where the choke will be deployed and what values your looking for then I can perhaps make a suggestion.
the LMT chokes that I designed and offered were a one time only offering.... though they are good choke designs by traditional criteria... our own chokes are designed with stricter criteria and offer typically better overall performance.
Follow Ups:
The choke will be in a cap input ps so it won't need to handle the ac ripple. It would need about 70ma dc current, 20H and about 250 dcr.Is the price for the r-080 still 50 a piece, if so I would like to get one.
Hi Chris:The easy one first. Re: R-080. The price of this transformer is currently $80 each.
re: power supply filter choke for cap input. I ran a custom job as I could not readily think of a stock unit that was ideal.
Here are some particulars on the choke.
L would be nominally 18 henries
dcr would be approx 84 ohms
designed to carry 75 madcmy focus here was not low dcr as a virtue in-and-of-itself.
The lower DCR (lower than the 250 ohms you spec) was the
byproduct of designing the choke to operate at a very low
flux density with only 9 degrees C temp rise.So the unit will run cool, it will operate in the at-ease range
magnetically, and it won't pollute two square feet of airspace with
strong radiated magnetic fields.Price for these guys would also be $75 each. Size of the PS filter choke would be the same size as the R-080 except that it would mount in a horizontal brass channel frame.

Hi Mike,I am going to hold off on the r-080 for now, but I would like to do a pair of the chokes. The difference in dcr shouldn't be a problem, and I can always add some series resistance if it is. What do I need to do to order the chokes?
Hi Chris:Would be happy to build a pair for you. Contact me via email at acrosound at aol dot com.
