gluca,yes, I got the idea of direct-coupled PP from Gary Pimm's PP47. I also used one of his current sinks in the output cathode, which sounded really, really nice, until I shorted it, somehow. I think I will try rotating the OPT 90 degrees, since I do have the room to try that, and take the opportunity to install the 1/4" mounting hardware that I used on the PSU choke, and put some flat rubber washers in there.
I will put DC heaters on the input tube eventually, but figure this noise is probably coming from some magnetic interaction, like the one you ran into.

Monkeys ... I was considering that topology for a 801A amp ... it happens I have OPT+tubes+PSU ready and running. Not now ... still working this 813 parafeed out.
