Of course! The two designs were completely different, pretty much just keeping the EXO-45. With the el84 circuit I could definately hear (and see on a scope) some non-linearities showing up in the 3-4 watt range that were not there with a 10 watt transformer. It was working extremely well at 2 watts, if I remember correctly it was .3db down at 20Hz, not bad!
