Hi GL:If you go over to Kevin's board (K&K audio)... he addresses this same issue with a user of a moreso traditional IT. These circuits are not for the faint of heart :=)
If your able to... I could moreso envision your schema if your were able to draw it out.
the FS-100 PF's are in process... these "feel" good in my hands and on the stacking table... look good on paper... but the real test, of course, is in the quarter mile ET's :=)
cheers and keep us up on your amps,
msl

Here we are. Driver is actually a SRPP now as I am taking the signal out of the upper cathode... I found it has a much better 10kHz square wave this way ... and bandwidth is huuuuuuuge (up to 100kHz after the EXO). That's why I see the rings. They are at 50kHz or so.I am going to upgrade it (?) with 866A (or/and 6D22S) and a new power tranny to bring the whole thing up to 800-900V. (Scared I am!)
Thanks for the hint. I saw posts from Kevin in the past as I own and used a pair of IT by LL ... but ... really these small rings I see at 10kHz are nothing to worry about. Frankly speaking EXO is doing a (much) better job than my old LL1660PP with square waves. A great product! Thanks. Mine are Ni.
I am sure it is going to be really hard (I'd say impossible) to have a flat square wave with interstages.
Take care. Ciao

As you may know I'm also working on an 813 amp, mine is running in pentode mode with no global feedback (deliberately high impedance). I'm using 866As on the PS but running a little lower voltage, I'm at about 630V but 120mA with Mikes 5K RS-500 OPT. (currently using a Hammond PP as a parfeed OPT).Its very interesting that these two wound up being worked on at the same time.
My big problem is the Hammond PS transformer is humming loudly and nothing will fix it. I bought a big monster one on ebay that should easily handle the amp, but I have to redesign the whole HV PS to use it. Oh well, thats the way it goes.
Great ... almost same bias here... and uh!-oh! I am going to use 866a too. WOOT! What about the driver?
