Hi,
This is my first time on this site. I have an EXO-050 output transformer. The primaries are obvious but I am in need of knowing how to wire the secondary. I just need to know the color and the impedances affiliated with the color. The colors of the secondaries are:
black(probably common)
orange
brown
yellow
Thanks

I strongly urge you to positively identify which model transformer you have (seeing earlier posts in this thread).
In the greatest of probability--- if you have the following four colors--- then the following is most likely---
black is ground
brown is 4 ohms
orange is 8 ohms
yellow is 16 ohms

The colors of the secondary are exactly as I stated in my post and DanLaudionut was the one that designed the circuit and he said it was a EXO-050. It is not an FS or a DS.
if the secondary has only four lead wires I can assure you that it is not a EXO-050. I went to the shop about an hour ago (10pm) to get the EXO-050 folder--- and as stated elsewhere in this thread the EXO-050 has SIX secondary leads. I knew this but wanted to double check and make sure I wasn't losing my mind.So you or Dan need to figure out what exactly you have and then I can help you.

the hookup should be the same colors and positions as our FS-030.

The FS-030 has more then four wires. This EXO-050 has four secondary wires, colored the same as the DS-025 or the TFA-204.
xaudiomanx, maybe you can link to the thread from which I recommended you ask Mike about it?
Mike, is this maybe a DS-050? (DS is series feed; EXO is parafeed) Do they have a different secondary arrangement?
Yes. DS-050 and EXO-050 are two completely different transformers. The DS-050 is a conventional airgapped output. It has four wires on the secondary. For 4, 8, and 16 ohms.
The EXO-050 is a parafeed output trans. Bottlehead Dan has used this trans in the past. It has six lead wires on the secondary which are then arranged for secondary impedances of 4, 8, and 16 ohms.
If you do a search on this forum for "EXO-050 hookup" you will see that it has six secondary leads. Then do a search for "DS-050 hookup".
I think Paul S. may be confused as to wether he has a DS or an EXO series output. I had responded to a private email from him asking me for hookup info on the DS-050.
So, check the number of leads on the secondary side? Do you have four leads or six leads? Another quickie "test" is.... measure the height of the transformer lams (not the depth)... if it is 3" tall (EI-100 lam) it is an EXO. If it is 3 and 3/8" (3.375") (EI-112 lam) it is a DS.

All (or 99.999%) of our transformers will have the product ID written on the primary end face of the coil. If the transformer has bell ends this will be hidden from you.
But... you can loosen the hardware (typically) four brass bolts. Take out the hardware. Lay the trans down on it's back (secondary wires on
your table) and gently lift the top of the front cover up enough until
you can read the product ID.
