Return to K&K Audio / Lundahl Transformers
90.213.164.231
I've managed to confuse myself - not that difficult critics would say!
My RAKK DAC will have the passive transformer based output module and I have the KandK passive attenuator to go with it.
I'll be following the volume control with a an unbalanced buffer line stage.
Do I wire the the attenuator as a balanced unit as per the diagram here;
http://www.kandkaudio.com/linestage.html
or configure it for unbalanced operation with a 10K resistor just on the + side?
Thanks.
Ray
Follow Ups:
Use the unbalanced input scheme with one 10K resistor.

Thank you Kevin. A follow up if I may...
I need to complete my RAKK DAC changes and need to implement a buffer linestage. I have two options to hand (need to keep cost down, at least for now), one is a JFET based unbalanced line amp and the other is a balanced to single ended convertor/line stage. Both offer around 0-6db gain. I lean towards the balanced module but I don't know about Common Mode Rejection; 'out of the box' it offers 50dB common mode rejection but I have no idea if that is good or bad?

I asked this question over on DIY Audio too; it seems that 50dB CMR isn't bad within the audio band (which isn't where opamps are measured apparently) so I'm gonna reconfigure the CATO modules as balanced/single-ended convertor line stages and see how it works out.
