Return to K&K Audio / Lundahl Transformers
70.190.167.136
I wanted to share my ST-70 build using the K&K kit. I has all the updates. The chassis is bubinga that I built in my woodshop. Top and bottom plates are .125 aluminum that have been powder coated. The textured white doesn't show the famous Arizona dust as much as other colors. Output transformers are clones of the original Dynacos from Triode Electronics and the power transformer is from Welborne Labs that I've probably had for 10-12 years. I believe the transformer was used in the Laurels. This amp will be a Christmas present to someone near and dear this year. Kevin has done a great job in creating the kit and the build went smoothly.

Wow, someone's going to get a great Christmas present! That's a really nice looking chassis. Are those vintage 6550's?
Great job and thanks for posting.
The 6550's are new production. I stopped using NOS power tubes because the cost is too high and new production quality has greatly improved. My computer had a driver fail last night and I can't send pictures. When it is resolved I'll post a picture of the inside of the chassis. To accompany the amp as a gift, an Ultrapath linestage has been built using Raytheon 6J5WGT's and a 5V4GA rectifier. It also has a bubinga chassis and the wood has a very nice figured grain.
Geeez , that's a pretty build ! Are you taking commissions for that nice wood frame ? I have a similar top plate....... :0)
Really lovely !

That's a really gorgeous build. Any under the hood photos?
Forwarded to me for posting...
