Return to K&K Audio / Lundahl Transformers
72.235.7.37
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Kevin. No rush to get to this but i was wondering if Lundahl makes a suitable interstage transformer for this application? I am thinking of a simple circuit with a 6sn7 or 5687 input to IT to KT90. I have the OPT which spec at 60w 2,3k primary impedance. Thank you in advance, Holiday Cheers! Dak

If I were driving a pair of output tubes directly, I would use either a 6BL7GT or 5687/6N6P. In my opinion, a 6SN7GT just doesn't have enough "muscle". If you are using the interstage transformer with no appreciable step-up, then the LL1692A/18mA or 25mA would be good choices. If you plan on trying to get more gain using step-up, then the LL1660/18mA or 25mA would be appropriate.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have lots of both tube types so i am covered tube wise. About the IT, i am thinking of doing monoblocks so, do i need 1 LL1692A per channel? I hope your christmas was excellent and all the best for the new year. best regards, Dak
Whether you build monoblocks or a stereo amp you need one LL1692A or one LL1660 per channel.
