an aluminum can for a roll of 35mm film, only slightly fatter and shorter. The 3rd picture in the link below shows a close-up of them. This guy had good luck substituting Lundhals. I got the link from another forum where I asked this question.I wasn't clear - it doesn't sound better when I use MC carts in the MM mode.
It just generally sounds better and more "right" when I use MM carts or hi-output MCs through the MM input. Using low output MCs through the trannies causes a slight loss of punch, slight loss of bass, slight loss of depth, and an overall slight weirdness is applied to the quality of the music. I did put a low output MC through the MM input -- I didn't have adequate gain and there was a lot of noise, but I could still hear the "right-ness" that the MC input robs me of. Despite the noise and low gain it was actually really enjoyable to listen to!
I've compared the Dynavector 20xH (MM) to the Dynavector 20xL (MC), and I wondered if my preference for the "right-ness" of the MM input has something to do with the quality of the transformers. That's why I posted.

Sounds like unmarked Sowter to me. That's the type of can they use.
I remember the customer you reference with your link. He's done it and liked it. I haven't done it, but do believe the LL9206 set up will sound better, as he found.
