I am planning an IT push-pull 2A3 amp with a topology similar to the Ralph Power design linked below. I will probably start with a 417a driver since that is what I am using now in my SE 46 amps, but I may try a D3a as well.
Kevin recommended a LL 1692A several years ago for a PP 45. Is that still the top choice?
Follow Ups:
I'd choose either the LL1692A/XXmA or its lower impedance brother the LL1671/XXmA. The LL1692A will give you bass response down to 20Hz with little or no loss, while the LL1671 will be less fussy in the high end just above 20KHz due to its lower impedance windings, avoiding the need for a Zobel network to tame the high frequency resonance that you will need for the LL1692A. In return the LL1671 will probably be down a decibel or two at 20Hz. These days, I'm inclined to choose the LL1671 to avoid the messing around with a Zobel, assuming you are using tubes like the 417A, 6C45P, or triode-connected D3a.
