Howdy
Was your equipment left on all of the time or perhaps you were hearing something warm up?

Thanks for the reply. No I always leave it off. I checked that things were the same as before and they were. I'm anal about room setup but that affects image more than anything. After warm up of over an hour I replayed that "first tune" and I felt the same way. Like I said I think its me wanting more HF out of my system. By the way it was very late at night when AC is usually cleaner. My hearing has not changed, no sinus issues etc. Maybe I can play around with attenuating the LF amp a bit. They are both CJ's SS with identical gain, input impedance and sensitivity. I think at least 8 of 10 people would consider the system warm, maybe more.

...and call me in the morning.
Then listened two days in a row and the second day things seemed fine....

or it was something else. :-)
especially if left off for extended periods. A perfect example is the hi-fi shows. The sound is pretty abysmal the first day or two, but by the third day, things come together.
Most exhibitors have to ship their stuff which results in the components not getting any juice for days, or weeks.
I remember Alan yun from Silverline always complaining about how bad the sound will be on electrnics that have not been on for more than a day or two. I worked with him at CES and Stereophile shows and the first thing we did was get the components hooked up and got some juice running through them.
