I always thought they were bigger. These don't have drivers and the asking price is 300. They aren't in great shape but would make ok shop speakers. How much are these cabs actually worth? Anyone know what went in them?

Great stuff better than la scalla and v musical, wish Frazier got more love I am rebuilding a black box with the 8inch driver and cannot believe how articulate that ugly speaker is.
No offense but these are toys compared to La Scalas. 1. Boxes are small. 2. 8inch versus 15 inch drivers. Also the plywood is very thin. You can't fight physics. I'll still likely give them a chance.

The were originally loaded with proprietary Frazier drivers, probably nothing all that special as they only had 1.5 inch voice coils and 28 ounce magnets. I heard them in one club where I used to play fairly regularly and they sounded pretty good, especially compared to usual club installs back in 73-74, when Shure Vocal Masters were the standard fare.
Thanks for the info Bill. I might make them an offer.

don't know if my single unit is a regular or "jr." mine has an 8" woofer and the back chamber is vented. The HF horn has a very small throat.

JR. was slightly smaller, about 20" square on the front vs. 24" square for the regular Dixielander, according to my old brochure. JR. also had a built in compression driver on the square front as well as a slot vent. Of course, they could have changed it over the years...
These seemed small to me. Could have been Jrs. Good news is there are 4 of them 8-)
I'd like to put a little multicell on top. Could be fun.

The photo you showed in your first post match up with Dixielander, not the JR version.
I agree they could be fun! If you have the room, make them an offer!
My brother built a single, roughly copied, back in the 60's. It was lively and had some pretty good bass if memory serves. I still have a few odd shaped pieces of plywood scrap kicking around here that were part of it.
I should have measured them.
Thanks
