Couple months ago I almost bought a a pair but then backtracked since I could not figure how a boxless speaker works. So many scientific studies have been made into the boxes and then this gentleman comes up with just a plank and almost faints into the sofa listening to a Jazz piece off it. It was indeed a lovely piece. I have so many planks lying around. Guess I will get an Eminence driver and build one.

Yes, that would be the right way to do it: find out for yourself.
I mean, what's all this hooplah about the open baffle ?
Typical audiophile folklore:
The Speaker Box = EVIL
The Speaker Crossover= EVIL
High Power amplifiers= EVIL
So, now let's suppose you go through all this and find the results of an open baffle not much to your liking ?

I heard that plank. He was at the Capital Audiofest last year with his Betsy. Such a simple design and he was using a cheap CD player. It was one of the better sounding rooms at the show, go figure. He did have a bass driver setup for a little low frequency help and the flea watt amp was just OK but when he installed the little 2 watt Decware amp they really sounded good. Keep in mind they need to be out from the wall some.
Im going to buy a pair - what the hell.
For the price of per pair of a bar tab I have nothing to lose. plus, I have a lot of 1-3/8" maple butcher block doing Nothing.
Time to get into the shop and make some saw dust.
