Built exactly like it says on JELabs web site gets you a good set of speakers at very little effort.
I used Goodmans of England 201 drivers with a EV T-35B wired to a cap and a 'L' pad laying on the top shelf to add a bit of 'top end'.
If I had to go back to it even today it would still be a very enjoyable speaker solution.

But if I am going back, I will use Altec 414 instead of the 604-8G's and a decent tweeter. I am willing to sacrifice a little bass than the clarity and organic tone to me of the midrange of the Altec 414 than the 15 inchers.
Interesting, Abe. I also ran 604s on JE Labs baffles, for more than a year, and I really loved them. The horn tweeter lacks refinement but that is being picky - the only reason I sold them was to move on to something else for the fun of it.
Thinking of throwing some Audio Nirvana 15" Classics on some baffles now, even though I have some truly superb Rethm speakers.

all the best,

I really like the T35s in my la scales, that's a super idea. Sadly II sold my old goodmans triaxiom speakers before I thought about open baffles. Am thinking about seeking out some GE 1201a drivers, have always been curious about them.
..........
Near perfect Fs, Qts and sensitivity, and decent impedance for tube amps.
Interesting. Looks a lot more durable than a vintage driver too, and not a bad price at all. Thanks for the link!
very tough driver - will not bottom out easily on a baffle - sounded great in a six-slit vent Karlson 12 (vents covered with bonded Dacron) - extremely extended on-axis response and not a twin cone - but really a TRIPLE cone as there's TWO WHIZZER Cones

..
Have to ask
.......
do they sound any good? Looks like a PA grade speaker from years past.
They were nice at low levels, but would break up at not enough
(at times) volume .
should make a nice speaker to amplify an acoustic guitar - I was just starting to get a grip on simple guitar when my hands went numb about a mouth ago - ugh
