Has anyone tried the BMS 4526nd or perhaps 4540nd as a supertweeter? Has anyone used other moderately prices compression drivers as supertweeters? I'm aware there is a lovely $1,000 Fostex alternative. I'm looking for the $100 alternative.

I'm having good luck using a Selenium ST200 as a super tweeter on my DE250 -JBL 2226. Really opens up imaging and air.
I used a 0.68uf cap and a 4 ohm resistor in series.
Price is right for sure! Wonder how much smoothing they applied to their published FR curve... Glad to hear you like them though.
I run the DE250 with a 2226 as well. I'm fairly happy with the HF in that setup (probably can't hear above 13K or so anyway). I have a couple 2" horns though, and per the specs the drivers don't really go above 10K. I have vintage 1" drivers that have the same issue. May be worth a try adding the Seleniums on.
Thanks!

IF over 50 yrs old ? Fair /likely chance you cannot hear even 14khz Making a "supertweeter" as optimistic as a Date with a Supermodel.
But Hey! Hope springs eternal :-)
Understood, and I am over 50. But many of the nicest sounding vintage drivers poop out early - barely over 10K. (JBL 2410/LE-175 for example). When I listen to a B&C DE250 on the same horn I hear extended highs that I am not hearing from the JBL. While I always have the option of selling off my vintage drivers and using only new wider range drivers, I thought it might be fun to try a supertweeter and see how that sounds.
