Or adapt a 1/4-20 rod or bolt. Cut it to length and place it in a drill and grind or file a point on it whilst it is spinning. Use a matching nut with washer to lock the adjusted height. Non-rust material should be used.

I imported Beauhorns into the US market for almost 12 years. Beauhorn has now been out of business for many, many years. I wish I remembered the thread size but I don't.
