Jeff
It was Serious Audio. I didn't spend the whole weekend there but I did return multiple times. I recall the system was pricey and definitely had competition at their asking price. but easily one of the best altec 604 based system that I heard.
The bass quality was reminiscent of the old bud fried speakers from the 80s and 90s.
Wondering if there are shared designs out there for the not only for the 604 but also for other classic drivers such as the 416 and 515 series. Better yet trnnsm line adaptation using classic a7 cabinets such as the 828.

The system was not just the speaker, but the AMPS are very special too, and MOST amps don't compare to Dennis' amps. Its Serious Stereo, not Serious Audio. You can read up on the amps and speakers by perusing and studying the company's web site. Also, you can go to the Tube DIY and SET Forums, and read all of Dennis' posts on amp design, under the Moniker Tube Wrangler, as he spells out what it takes, rather clearly.
The system was only running at about 80% of its potential that weekend !! I sure wish it was at closer to 100%, but that will be next year, or, a visit to Livingston MT.
By the way, at my place, I run 825 cabinets, a modified ALTEC A7-800, and I am enjoying the horn loading of the 15 inch ( a 515B ) very much. "I" am prefering the A7 presentation, ( with both drivers horn loaded ), over the MLTL point source, so far. However, I am still not done with the A7 setting it up, but this is my suspicion, that its simply more fun!!
Photo is some of my recent "mass-loading" speaker experiments. Those are 11.7 by 11.7 inch by 1.7 inch red concrete slabs, weigh 17.6 pounds each and cost only $1.47 each at Lowes. More mass is better, and its needed on any stock ALTEC speaker from what I am hearing thus far. Have fun in your journey.

Hi KYL,
There is.. The design is by GM (in this and other forums). A design / detailed build log was posted in the Altec Forum but I could not find it there anymore.. I saw another one too in the link below for the 416, but I'm not sure if the cab dimensions need to be adjusted if you wish to use the newer GPA 416 Alnico.. You could ask GM himself in this forum. I think there is also another design for the 515.
Good luck in your Diy efforts..
Wow thanks, the link shared the external dimensions. For a mltl, I am also interested in the line layout, mouth dimensions, and stuffing details. Btw, the cabinet is "pretty big" for the 604

Hi,
Well, it's for the 416.. The 604 and its variants requires a different set of Internal Dims, etc..
Try to contact inmates, 'drummerwill' and 'rc daniel'.. They have 604's in diy mltl's. Good luck.
