These are in my in-laws' house in Japan, which has been abandoned since their passing a decade ago.
Anyone know what they are? Any good? Any value?
Follow Ups:
A bit OT, but I'm more interested in the wall behind the speakers. It looks like strips of old flooring material arranged to provide acoustic treatment.
Those speakers being driven by a receiver!
Obviously the owner was a music lover but just imagine what he could have heard with appropriate amplification and that proper piano in the back of the room. Those beefy legs make me wonder: is that a BOSENDORFER - certainly looks like something of equivalent quality.
Your in-laws were very interesting people. You married very well!
More pics, multi amped, elec xover
GOTO worth about 12k us +- depending on parts, sad to say best to sell off in parts. I base my prices on current ebay values.
Looks like either Goto, Onken, YL Acoustic, or ALE drivers and/or horns in a diy set up.. All of which fetch $$$$$$Looks like you've Hit the jackpot, your late in-laws left you almost audio unobtaniums for most folk.. Rescue them pls.

Thanks for the quick response!
Here's a closer photo I just received, in case it helps.
There is a Goto crossover at the electronics end. I don't know anything about these kind of drivers. Does this suggest they are all Goto?
I don't have space for these speakers in my house, and I live in Europe. (I'd be fascinated to have them, but I also have a big Meridian set up with 8000SE so I very much don't need more big hifi...) So I guess selling is the only way.
How do I do that? I don't know where to start! Sell as units? Or dismantle them and sell the drivers? What order of magnitude are we talking about for value of a speaker system such as this?
Here also is the Goto crossover. (Couldn't find a way to send attach two photos to the previous posting.)
It is a full GOTO system by the looks of it, Tweeter, midrange and even the GOTO 505 which is the big horn, Horns included and Bass cabinet, of course, with what seems to be doublé GOTO 15" woofers in the right volumen over built box, as it should be. Even the XOver is there.
One of the best systems you can get. It will leave your Meridian whatevers in the dust easily.
You have to see which series they are, If the have the bigger magnets or the Berylium diaphragms.

Wow, this is great information, many thanks!Family folklore has it that he paid EU50,000 for the speakers. That's probably wildly inaccurate, but if it's even roughly ballpark it suggests it might be the top level of each driver. (New cost according to that 2008 price list about $45000 delivered, without the cabinets.)
They are not mine, and probably the family will want to monetise them, if they are of such value. What should I advise? That they sell within Japan as a complete system seems the most logical. Breaking it up would be a pity.
If I was to offer to buy them myself from my father-in-law who inherited them, what should I offer? (not that I have the space...)

Hi,
Saturntube is correct, they are Goto.. If they would be sold in Japan, Yahoo Auctions in Japan is the most likely place to sell. There are also second hand audio shops in Japan that would probably pay a good price for them.

If you would buy them, try to get in touch with the ETF (triodefestival.net) folk on your side of the pond for advise on how to implement them within your space constraints.
