But, Abe, I think the question is, if the 604s had come AFTER the Le Cleach, would you have called THEM superior? :)
(I've had front horns too... very pricey ones... I'm not sure I like anything previous better than these all-around - but the mind plays many tricks, especially when it wants to simplify.)
Follow Ups:
Hmmmm...I would say no, you are right as I prefer the Le Cleach horns with the 604 LF much more than just the 604's on its own. But to be fair, the 604-8G's I have sound great on JEL OB's and I would not mind having just that if I have not played around with the Le Cleach horns set up.
So you're crossing them down low (way below 1K) and using them up to - ?
Using Jeff Markwart's XO for JEL OB, so I think that's around1200 Hz. if I recall correctly. For the Le Cleach,800 Hz 3rd order low and 4th order high on a two way with 802D on the Le Cleach for HF.
I also played with 3 way with 288C up to 14K and then 802D onwards. LF using Altec 416 3rd order up to 800Hz.
