Efficiecy is proportional to size, a "12Hx6Wx6D or smaller" speaker cannot be high efficiency (unless it has nothing below about 200hz).

Ok, I guess I'll have to go a little larger. I can live with an f3 of 150Hz.
I assume this is OK, since the design is offered for free. It is a design we've had on the Bottlehead web site for some years:http://bottlehead.com/s-e-xy-speakers/
The design gives a cutoff of 125Hz at a QT of about 0.5 - quite suitable for a subwoofer. Efficiency is about 94dB/m/w.
A T-amp or similar should be adequate.
